My new roof got finished today and the crew was gone so I took advantage of the peace and quiet to try out new ammo for my 44 mag with the idea of making it my hunting ammo. Ruger Super Blackhawk and Federal Hydra Shock JHP 240 gr bullets. Started at 7 yards and worked my way to 25 yards having to crank up my sights 4 times because these bullets shot really low compared to the SP's I usually shoot. It was 92 when I started shooting and when I quit it was 100. 2 hours later it was 105, glad I got done before it got hot. Took 2 hours of AC and ice water before my eyes were seeing straight and my hands stopped shaking.

Maybe I should have waited till tomorrow morning while it was still in the low 80's but I was in a hurry because it's been to long without some powder being burned. My 25 yard targets wouldn't load in my picture program but I have a picture that will give you a little idea. The whole drill was to see how tight a group I could shoot, (not score), and I was impressed with this ammo out of my old gun. 5 rounds each with one hand, two hands and from a rest. There wasn't a lot of difference. If it cools down a bit next time I will do 50 and 100 yards.

Looks like it and you are shooting OK. If you are having those symptoms, yes you should of waited for 80's in the following morning. You were just about to Heat Stroke out there.

Never claimed to be smart, just good looking. :smiley31:

Anyway here are the targets I could not post last night. I could up load pictures but not the scanned targets??? These wewre the ones where I was starting to get the shakes and blurred vision. If I had any sense I wouldn't have shot them but have bullet, will shoot, I couldn't not shoot them.

Do the drill and post your targets when you do. Finally rained a little bit, West of me got pounded bad but I got about 10 minutes of heavy rain. Tomorrow at suinrise its only supposed to be in the 70's so I may do my 50 and 100 yard shooting then. Then I am off to another gun with a wee bit less oomph to it then the 44 mag had.

Just did the 50 and 100 yard targets. Poor choice of targets for the 50 yard shoot, I could barely see it in the over cast conditions but the 100 yard target was great.

As long as I was shooting at 100 yards I thought I would shake the rust and dust off my 45.

It was raining when I shot the 100 yard target, didn't mind a bit. Only a brief shower but we will take whatever we can get. We are back to 3 digit temps again for the next few days.
