Corned Beef Hash ! Substance , protein , feels full in the stomach , texture remains a long time , good price !

Many brands to choose from but watch out for the pull-tab style can ! These won't last as long in your storage ....

Even Libby's has several styles of can and types of hash , usually spam style hash has a pull-top or key-way (beware) !!!

Single serving sized cans are excellent but watch out for pull-top style cans ! If you "must " buy pull-tabs ROTATE your supply ....

....and don't forget other meat products that will go a long way for survival !!!

Tuna , another good storage item ! Good price , protein , water content and/or oil content , easy to store flat cans , texture after ten years (not so great)

Try and stay away from "chunk" light or chunk white as these days chunk almost means "mush" , instead look for "SOLID" white or solid albacore !!! Buy in both oil or water as both will have "need" in a survival situation !

Rats, 4 legged kind, kill them, skin them, dry the carcas in the sun or before a fire, grind them up into a powder, bones and all, use powder in soup, stew, gruel, etc., very high protein...in US Southwest cliff dwellers survived this way...great with acorn mush!

On further reflection...the two legged kind would work just fine too...'long pig' is well known in Polynesia.
