Wow is right, but when you figure that there are new people getting into the hobby, and a fixed number of these rifles in the land of shall not be infringed, the old law of supply and demand push the price to crazy levels. Of course high price is in the eye of the beholder. You or I wouldn't pay that much because we were lucky enough to be around when that auction's starting price was crazy!

Very true as to what 'nut said. I've seen my own mak90's increase in value in the short time I've had them, and that's only been since 3/2012.

I'm not surprised! They are ultra rare and there are idiots like myself that would snatch it up if we had a chance.

What surprised me was a NIB Polytech Spiker going for nearly $2,500 recently

NIB Norinco Type 56 underfolders go over $1,700 easily..

Prices have passed the crazy line on Chinese AK variants. And when I think about how many I passed up back when a Legend underfolder was selling for under $900!!! 56S for under $500... Later MAK-90s for under $300!

Of course back in 1976 a friend offered me an M16 for $250. And I turned that down because the blackmail fee was almost as much as the rifle! Having an accurate crystal ball would be nice when it comes to certain items!

Old law of supply and demand, which is why when you ban something, prices of existing "allowed" ones go up. Just that with the Chinese AK variant the prices have skyrocketed.

Many people say that pre-ban versus post-ban versus current versions doesn't matter, but tell that to collectors. And it is not only with these rifles, but all "collectibles". Look what a 1965 Mustang sells for these days, or a 67 Camaro, or...
