I recently picked up a milled bulgarian ak. Are there any marks to show what model I have? It was made in Bulgaria and imported by a company in VA. It also has a rail built into the left side of the receiver. Thanks

I have no idea, but there are a bunch of people here who know alot about AKs, I am sure they can help. For my part, welcome to the board, looking forward to seeing you in the discussions.

Could use a little more info or pic.

With no markings jumping out at you it could have been a kit gun built on an imported receiver

Thanks for the replys!
It says arsenal on the left side of the receiver and the serial number starts with AB.

Arsenal SLR of some type I'm guessing
Here's a pretty good reference guide that might help narrow it down

Looks alot like the sa93 but has a different stock set and has a slant muzzle brake. It also has a upper and lower tang.

You mentioned a scope rail which got me leaning toward the SLR's

The finish is smooth not rough like duracoat or something. The "slide" is black not polished. Looks like slr's were made in the USA, this one says bulgaria.?

Not really:
"Two models from the SLR line were imported by D.I.G. between (1994-1998); the SLR-95 and the SLR-96"
"Of the two imported rifles, the SLR-95 was the more prevalent model. Two versions of it were actually imported; one with a muzzle brake pinned to the barrel, and one without."

These seem to be one of the more confusing AK's out there as far as what it is and when and who.......
Too add to it you used to be able to buy just the receiver which was imported

Now if you had a Gordon Technologies I'd have to say "I hate you" but I'll just say welcome aboard.
I'm probably in over my head here anyway

Any of the imported rifles should have a model designation stamped on them, like "SA M-7", "SLR-95", etc.

There were about a zillion versions of the SA M-7 made, so one with a side rail wouldn't surprise me. My SA M-7 serial starts with AB, but the name is engraved on the receiver.

Sorry, more data needed. I would like to see pictures of the rifle so that any writing on the receiver would be visible. Please.

Think I figured out your problem, the model is probably stamped under the side mount. My best guess is either an SA-93 or SLR-95. Would also guess that someone threaded the muzzle for the slant brake. Either one is a really nice rifle, you should get many years of enjoyment out of yours!

The pistol grip looks Chinese. Personally I like the wood grip as opposed to the plastic ones commonly found these days.

There is a model SLR-101 that has a factory side mount, but it has markings above the mount. As I remember, the 93 and 95 are the only ones that are marked on the upper middle of the receiver where the mount is on your rifle.

Thanks! I bought it from a guy that got it from his uncles estate. He said that he shot it 60 times. It seems like a nice ak. The stock is kind of rough...
