Can somone tell me what I have here?

Hi guys I just purchased this Ak From a Friend of mine and im wondering if I got a good deal as Im new to AK's and what it might be worth in todays market.. I paid $500 for it and it came with 2 30 rnd clips and a 40 round clip. It seems to be in pretty good shape I just did a break down lubed everything up real nice.. gas tube piston had some carbon built up on it and also noticed a tiny bit of rust inside the gas tube. It has a few upgrades he said the muzzel break is threaded for a supressor has a new triger he said cause it was a full auto gun and it had to be converted to semi-auto it also has a UTG aluminum quad rail system..

Only major thing i found that I need fixed is if you look at last picture you will see a silver lock nut on that push button that allows you to remove the dust cover.. what is this called and where can I get the original nut or clip that is supossed to go there its really bothering me that i have this all black AK and a bright silver nut on the back lol..

Also I want to know if a AKKARS rail system will work on this I dont notice that push button on the back with other AK's

If it was a legal "full auto" then I'd say it's illegal because once it's a "machinegun" it can't be converted back. Plus the conversion doesn't just involve swapping the trigger so he might have been feeding you a line.

Well besides the full auto at one time being in question... I would also like to find wood grips for it will any AK wood grips mount up with it being a underfolding M70 ? and any info on that push button nut?

What you have is a Yugoslavian M70AB2 that was cut into a demilled parts kit and rebuild into a legal semi-auto rifle by Century Arms International (CAI). The trigger grup, for USA parts count is likely a G2 set from Tapco. The Yugos were very respected imports during the 1980s and even the Century rebuilds can be very nice rifles.

The lock nut is highly out of place. It has been a while since I've messed with the cover retaining parts on a Yugo. As I remember the Yugos added that feature because of the grenade launching feature. That is a genade launching site / gas valve shut off attached to the gas block. Someone else may be able to tell you where to get the correct replacement parts, but will likely need a close up of the inside with the cover off in the area of the nut.

Thank you for the info.. I found and orderd a new pin and nut for the cover release $9 not bad.. that eye sore will be out of the way soon..

Now the dust covers I want to install a Parabellum Armament AK-47 AKARS Adaptive Rail System but I notice there not notched for the release pin I could do the notch but are the specs the same as a normal AK other then the notches?

I'm loving my M70AB2, I got lucky and found a straight one right off the bat. Only issue I have with it is, the poly furniture, after 4 magazines it's (glove) hot. I'd love to swap it off this rifle for a nice set of wood furniture, just having a hard time deciding the color/finish... decisions decisions...
