I recently found a US navy Mark 1 knife. It's in good shape and has the appropriate sheath. The years have dried out the leather stacked handle though. Anyone know a good way to recondition them? I thought about just soaking it in warm olive oil but I like this knife and don't want to take any chances of messing it up.

I've seen others reommend cleaning/lightly sanding the handle then warming it with a hair dryer and applying the Sno-Seal. You can also use the hairdryer to melt the Sno-Seal for easier application. Others have used the same process with mink oil and seemed well satisfied. HTH

That's not a bad idea. I've used snowseal on other leather products before and it really does a good job. Thanks.
