I just finished cutting off the barrel nut on my WASR 10/63, I guess I got lucky, 15 seconds with the dremel and one tap on the wrench and off it came. My question is, looking at performance alone, what is the best style of muzzle brake for my gun?

Define performance. Is it Flash Hiding or Muzzle climb you are wanting to tame? The ultimate flash hider is a suppressor, Blackout hiders by AAC are pretty good as a flash hider goes, Aimsurplus has those in stock at the moment but I think the threads are 1/2 - 28 inch threads. Your Wasr is going to have metric threads.

Welcome to the group !!! :welcome:

If you just want to soften the recoil, an AK-74 style brake or the AMD-65 brake work wonders. People complain they make shooting a little louder, but personally, so what! You do have to watch side blast as they do redirect the muzzle blast to the sides. Other than that, these two are among the best that I have found.

I'm not really concerned with muzzle flash, I just want as much control as possible for the least amount of money as possible. So far I'm leaning towards the AK-74 style, but I'm mainly wondering what my best options are. I've owned guns all my life, but this is my first AKM style weapon.

EDIT: Thanks for the warm welcome and good information!

By the way, I'm pretty sure mine is the standard AKM 14X1 LH threads.
