My pistol is about 85% done.

I'm looking for my next build.
There's a .22 that's needed, but I've been thinking about an AR build.

i didnt see the hondo's shitty rusty guns option.

either one of htose will be difficult without a mill. not impossible, but difficult.

Just to give you another option on the 10-22 receiver …. http://www.nodakspud.com/NDS-22.htm
It doesn’t look like much until you scroll down and see the accessories he offers for it.

If it was me, I would go for the 10-22 build right now and hold off on the AR build until the Christmas sales come out. That way you get both and save a few bucks too boot.

Between the two I would build the AR. I would rather have one of those than a 22. Plus you could get a 22 conversion for an AR if you just want a cheap plinker.

If it was me though I would build something else. Neither of those intrests me much. Build what you want though, not what some one else wants. It will be your gun after all have fun.

I would never trade my 10/22 for any other.22lr rifle.

It would cost me 145 for a 80% & tool and 165(with rail) to get it from nodak.

not sure where you were going with that, but you do realize that the nodak are full 100% ready to run receivers, right?

im not sure what exactly needs to be done to the razor's to finish them. if thats the route you want to go, check out weaponsguild.com. im pretty sure ive seen a few of those posted, and iirc, they are a vendor there and you may be able to get a discount.

other than that, i say go big or go home

Yeah, I know it's a 80%.
I watched the video twice now, a few holes to drill and 1 or 2 to tap.

I don't have the tools to build a FAL, if you've done it, give me some input about it.

NDS has an excellent reputation and being the owner of 2 on there previous model NDS-22 receivers, I can tell you first hand that you would be hard pressed to find a better receiver.
whichever rout you go, I will be looking forward to the pictures.

damn, i think it took longer to watch teh video that it takes to do it.

only thing im not sure about is the barrel bore hole. i think he breifly mentioned something about having to drill it. although, by the sounds of it, most of the needed drill bits are included. the only thing that shocks me is that all of the shit the jig has on it, and he had to allign the tap by hand. that should have been easy enough to include.

afa the fal, if you build from a 100% receiver (which is what both of mine were) all you need is a receiver wrench ( which i have) and 2 welding rods (for allignment) and its a simple assembly, and ends with installing the correct shoulder to get your headspace. the only possible pitfall is if the bbl dosent initially time correctly, and even that is a simple fix.

Anyone ells notice how he has the bore hole punched out and the V block holes drilled and tapped. but does not do them in the video. I was thinking about how I would do that on my mill. my conclusion was I would turn the mill parallel to the table so I could clamp the receiver flat. that’s not possible with a drill press. I imagine it could be done by just free handing them. but the holes it would produce would be no where near perfect.

Edit to add: LOL death502 noticed. I guess I should have refreshed the page after watching the video.

I voted 10/22 because I want one.
Save yourself some grief and get a NODAK receiver.

A FAL sounds like a interisting gun. I have just started to get into them.

Now that would be cool though I personally oculdn't aford to shoot it.

A 1919 would be an interisting project as well I think.
