Pretty simple, do you have optics on your AR(s)? If so, what kind?

I've got irons on all of mine but have traditional low-powered scopes on two and a civi red-dot on one.

I'm looking with interest in one of the AR-specific scopes now offered by Nikon and Leupold... with the BD knobs.

Currently a Leupold Vari X II 3x9 40mm Objective Lens. It's built for hunting. It's a 6.8 SPC.

I loved the ACOG on my service weapon, but I really don't have a use for it as a civilian to justify busting out $1300.

I've got a Millett DMS-1 on my AR...not sure what category it falls under.

My mp15-22 still only sporting the irons it came with.

Aimpoint 9000SC on my carbine

ACOG TA01 on my A2

Bushnell TRS-25 on my SAR 3 and on my 10/22.

Leupold 3.5-10X40 VXIII with a drop comp on my Savage 16

FN Police 12 GA- irons

Sub2000 9mm- irons

And that's it. IF I ever manage to get my hands on a RFB I want to put one of those huge Trijicon Reflex sights on it for a real space gun look.

Right now I'm using just the iron sights,I'm considering something like an Aimpoint or Eotech.

just made the leap to an Eotech on a Socom16 and Trij-RX30 on the M&P15. Wallet is lighter but couldnt be happier :) with the optics

Everything except red dot and reflex. On iron sights alone there are several varieties from patridge to express to aperture. I try to keep in practice with all of them but the older I get the more I like my aperture sights. Sigh, I see more expenses coming in order to keep some of my guns in service.

I forgot about my old Leapers colt copy - works fine on the HBAR.... and I had a nice Eotech but I sold it. It kept leaking battery power - it was the compact one that takes the short stubby camera batteries. I sent it back to Eotech to get fixed - and they supposedly did something to it but I stored it with the batteries in afterwards and once again, a couple months later, they were stone dead...

I liked it but the battery issue was too much.

I have an Eotech with an Aimpoint 3X magnifier in a FTS mount on an M4-gery. I usually do not use the magnifier, but have it in case I want it.

I also have a a Trijicon TA33R8 mini ACOG on a Recce build.

I used to have an IOR Valdada M2 on the REcce, but it is going up for sale since I found an amazing deal on the ACOG.

I like Nikon optics, but I cannot recommend the Nikon M-223 1-4X24. I mounted it recently on my Robinson Arms M-96, and it shot lousy. I was getting a 9 MOA average group with the scope. After I removed the scope and switched to iron sights, I averaged about a 3" group at 100 yds. Yes, I checked the scope mounting and nothing was loose.

I've heard good things about the M-223 2-8X32, however. That will probably be the next scope on my M-96.

I also have an aimpoint micro (H-1) on a Bushmaster 16". No complaints with that optic. Battery life measured in years rather than hours.

Optics that are on rifles I would SHTF with:

-TA31F ACOG (though if I were in the market now I'd give a good hard look to the -TA11F)
-Aimpoint Micro (offset mount in front of the ACOG and another on an AK + Ultimak)
-EOtech (552 on a trainer, XPS3-0 on my SBR, XPS2-0 on my SCAR, XPS2-0 on a .22lr trainer)

Shotty:
-Burris FastFire on my Saiga-12. If I ever used it outside of competition I would stick an Aimpoint Micro on there.

I have a bunch of other garbage but I'd never use any of it on any kind of serious working rifle though.

Thanks for the feedback on that. I'm kinda surprised to hear that. All of my Nikon scopes have been great... I'll be waiting for awhile regardless - I just popped for a mini 14 GB so I'm tapped out for some time until I cover that.
