12 years ago?? :wow:

Looks like a nice rifle from Nippon with its aircraft sights intact & possibly the dust cover. What's the condition of the mum? There's someone else here who has a few Japanese rifles, but can't recall who...

1940 91/38 Italian Carcano

This one has the small detachable bayonet on it but because it's
small I don't take it off.
If you ever shot one of these you would know that the accuracy is
less than pathetic.

Mine has the SA stamp on it and that's usually the Finnish stamp of the time and shouldn't be on a Carcano. If you have any info please let me know.

Hey, I have one of those sitting in my safe that my grandfather brought home from WWII after we nuked the japs. There is quite an interesting story behind the one my grandfather brought back, but this is the first time I've seen someone here post a picture of one. I had figured them for fairly common mil-surp rifles. Though it is damn near impossible to find ammo for it around here.

Same with yours!!!

I used these cheesy optical triggers and they worked really good.
I had my SB-400 mounted on the D5000 on manual at 1/8 power. On the tripods is the SB-600 with a Lumiquest at 1/2 power and a SB-15 with a cut up Sto-Fen copy diffuser at full power. I stood in the center of the flashes.
It took quite a few shots to get it how I wanted.
Next is a non-distracting background.

OK I don't know about more than half what you said so I will ask. Your saying you remote fire the two extra lights from the SB400 cam when you shoot your picture. By useing less flash on the cam you avoid the glare. Don't think my 2600x Fuji can make that leap. I use a less invasive background for less distraction from the subject plus it takes less ink when printing out a copy. I use an old gate turned on it's side and hang what ever background I have.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/montereyjack/8b71b6cc.jpg

A deck will work but I don't like the angles or light.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/montereyjack/8eb86034.jpg

I preferusing natural light so a off white plastic cover on a deck works.

I get your point.

The optical slaves "see" the flash from your main camera and fire the remote flashes.
I know my background is a distraction but my wife has taken over my normal shooting spot for her Christmas stuff.

This is the only forum I've seen without an edit feature.

I think you're right. Years ago the C&R section was the hot spot. This forum and either
changed owners or something at least 3 times since I've been here.

These forums are still owned by the same people that own Gunsnet.net. The Leadership has changed 3 times defaulting to me after the first two leaders died. Surely you know of Redstar and Zouave's passing. Next the problem is there's nothing new on the market to stimulate posts of "oh look what I just got from xxx"!

To illustrait my point the following are weapons not being imported and offered for sale any more.

Mosin Nagant M39, 28, 27, 26, 91 and 91-30's from Finland.
Mosin Nagant 91-59
Mosin Nagant M38
Mosin Nagant M44
Lee Enfields of all models.
M38 Turks and other earlier variants
M59 Yugoslav SKS rifles
Russian SKS rifles
Albanian SKS rifles
Swedish Mausers of all model types
Labels
and the list goes on. Nor are there any great deals on surplus ammo for any of the above especially .303 ammo. For my part I've discussed all these weapons and topics to the point where I'm talked out. A forum shouldn't exist on the shoulder of the Administraitor, it should be carried by the members. Posters such as MJ1 are great. But he seems to be about the only one posting. My role is primarily to make sure nobody gets roudy and starts pissing matches. There's not enough traffic to worry about that.

Keep posting and encourage others to post and maybe the traffic will increase.
