Not much to say.

Wart

As far as dealing with the long-term issues related to the recent string of mass shootings, Warren argued changes are needed with regard to mental illness, assault weapons and video games.
"There's a mental health angle that you have to deal with, I don't think we're taking care of those struggling with mental illness like we need to in America. There is the civil safety issue, which is gun control and these assault weapons -- they don't call them 'assault weapons' for nothing. There is the social issue ... students, by the time they're 18, they've maybe killed 10,000, 20,000 people on video games without any remorse for it. It creates a culture (http://www.gunsnet.net/topics/culture/) of violence."
At the deepest level, though, Warren said the "emptiness inside of people that causes people to be enraged like this," is the most important one to deal with: "When we don't have peace in our hearts, we're not going to have peace (http://www.gunsnet.net/topics/peace/) with each other."

Some people like to blame the guns, some people like to blame the video games, some people like to blame the "godlessness", and some people... apparently like to blame all of the above. :11doh:

The man is preaching outside his realm of knowledge. Like so many other people he should stfu about subjects where he is ignorant.

Isn't he like 0bama's favorite pastor after Rev Wright?

Think Warren's more a voice of the new age (old time debil worship) rather than christians.

What makes you think that that is the "voice of evangelical christians?"

He isn't my voice. And if he came to my church I'd let him know why.

Don't know the guy but from the link:

For the updated version, Warren explained that he wanted to speak to the many young adults today who feel like their life is in limbo due to the sour economy. He hears from many in that age group, Warren said, who have finished college, do not have a job and have moved back in with their parents.

They "are pretty disillusioned with the American dream," and he wanted to "help them find some meaning and purpose while we're waiting on the economy to turn around."

When asked about President Obama, Warren said his biggest disappointment is the disunity in the nation.

"President Obama ran saying he was going to be a unifier and our nation is more divided than ever before. I think it's more divided than at any time since the Civil War; that's disheartening to me."

Warren clarified, though, that he does not only blame the president. "There's plenty of blame to go around," and he would like to see politicians blame each other less.

"You can't fix the problem while you're fixing the blame,

.......

Did you guys just read the highlighted quote about assault weapons?

Haven't you figured out by now that 90% never go to the link and read the articles.

I went to the link and read it. I also went to another link and found something else he said the other day:

"There is the psychological issue of the mentally ill – and we are not taking care of the mentally ill like we ought to, and we are not supporting the families of the mentally ill. There's the public safety issue – people are using AK-47 assault rifles to assault people, and there needs to be something done about that."

Nearly the same thing except he names a specific firearm in this one. He doesn't say he wants something done about grandpas deer rifle, he called out "assault rifles" and "AK47's". He either doesn't know wtf he is talking about and should educate himself before running his mouth. Or, he does know what he is talking about and he wants liberal Dem style gun control, in which case he can go pound sand.

Dear Rev. Rick

Please start a crusade to ban the assault weapon that Cain used to slay Abel.

Murder is still illegal under the eyes of The Lord, and the law of man. Still they happen.

Ban assault rocks and then I will entertain your idea to make lawful Americans defenseless against the devil on earth. Unfortunately for you though, I will still disagree with your intent to disarm lawful America.

Thats fine Wart.

I'l just have to keep in mind that you always accept the word of Fox News as truth, and in the future when you claim they're liars we'll all know how inconsistent you are.

Either that or you misread the original question and refuse acknowledge it.

Maybe you misread his answer and refuse to acknowledge it also. All he did was quote what Fox news said, the same as you and all us others do on here with our sources. It does not mean we agree or disagree with whoever we quote.

Hey...we are all assholes on here at one time or three others. The thing about Wart...he's as patriotic as any on here, but his patriotism is only for one country, the United States of America. For all the countries that say they are our friends....he doesn't see them actually being our friends thru thick and then, so he doesn't see any reason for us to die for them.

Bullshit. I've played shoot-em-up video games and "killed" God-knows how many thousands of players (as well as GETTING "killed" a lot more often).

But I have never hurt any LIVING thing. I don't even hunt.

Surprise: I know the difference between a game and reality.

By the time you were 18?

I get what you're saying but what were graphics like back then. I'm not a gamer but from what I've seen they are pretty good these days.
It's kind of easy to play a while and then get back to real life work and family.
But to a kid growing up with the current stuff, no real responsibilities and what have you already into the teen phase of life I don't think us older guys can really make that kind of comparison.
Not blaming the game or saying you're wrong but don't think it compares just like most things between generations when it comes to technology and such

Reguardless of the graphics quality, the argument has never changed from then to now and it's still just as much of a pile of crap now as it was then. Anyone remember "I heard the US Army uses the game Doom to desensitize special forces and turn them into killers" or "Duke Nukem is encouraging children to kill police officers". It's all the same crap all over again.

The more I have been hearing about the drugs prescribed for "antidepression" and "bipolar" and so on, they seem to defeat your built in inhibition code. And by that I mean it becomes a "mood amplifier" of sorts, if you're happy you're pretty freaking happy. If you're angry look the f out! I am guessing it has to do with reuptake inhibition most of this carp employs resulting in a lack of actual inhibition that may not be entirely the fault of the patient/victim.

I hear you there.
I remember when Zaxxon came out. That was so cool because it was 3D.
At least you'd have to get out to play the good version. Sit in a bar and mingle maybe meet some chicks.
Now you never have to leave your house or room for that matter.
Add the cell phones, forums, chat rooms and on line porn I can see where someone can get lost in their own reality.

I walked into a bar in Memphis TN back in '75 when I was 20 yrs old. A bunch of people were crowding around two guys sitting at opposite sides of a small table with what looked like a small tv set into the middle of it face up. They were playing virtual ping-pong, or Pong. I still recall how folks were just in awe of that simple digital game, lol. ;)
