Are you looking for 1911 manufacturers that use both forged frames & slides?

Yes, both forged frame and forged slide.

I know some manufacturers use a forged fram on some models and a cast on others.

Good question.

I have been obsessed with 1911's for the past 6 months. No clue why, it just bit me and I go to gun/pawn shops weekly looking for a Colt.

Local shop just got some RIA's and Auto Ordnance and they are a big time Kimber dealer.

The AO's have caught my eye......anyways just soemthing about me wants forged frames, don't know why just does.

I I was to buy another 1911 right now I would probably get an auto ordanace one. I don't know if they are forged or cast though. I probably end up getting one some time. I am silly like that and keep buying more 1911's.:wiggle-butt:

I am not one for an alloy frame. You can get an older colt or springfield for decent money with good old fashioned steel.

I don't like alloy frames period . Flame on.

I believe the following manufacturers use both forged frames & slides:

Les Baer
Ed Brown
Colt
Kimber
Nowlin
Rock River
S&W
Springfield
Wilson

There may be others but those are the ones I can currently think of right now.

Auto-Ordnance machines their stainless frames from stainless 420 castings at their plant in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Steve, mine are a long time before stainless.......I stand to be corrected.....they do not look like casts to me...this is the original ones...under 10K.

I stand corrected...these were made long before Khar got ahold of them.....from the looks of the inside of my slide, I'd swear it was milled......no leftovers of cast marks.....
oh well, I'm no purist!LOL
