new to the forum and new ak 47

Hi fellas my name is Matt i recently bought a Romtehnica/Cugir Ak 47 made in romania its the WUM-1 type 7.62x39 i am not sure what year was built in but i think its a post ban Ak import but like i said im not sure and some help would be apreciated to find out.

i took it last weekend at the shooting range and i have to say that i am impressed with both accuracy and power.

I am planning of buying a scope mount that attach to the left side i am currently in the process of looking for the part and the scope.

here the gun. i Love it also for the dragunov style stock.

You are correct, the WUM-1 was imported during the 1994 clinton stupidity. The nice thing is that it is all Romanian, including the fire control group. They were imported approximately in the 1997 time frame.

Having an AK sidemount for a scope is nice. It allows you to install a nice scope without having to modify anything on the rifle.

thankyou so much for the welcome and the nice information. I thought it was about that time frame and yes i would like to keep the look without zombifying the gun. i Love the way it looks and feels. oh i also have a 30 rounder steel mag ... only problem is that now with all this fuss that is going on is almost impossible to find ammo. went to 2 different academy stores and they were out of rounds.. im left with barely 10 rounds i keep for family protection,.

The ammo situation is sad. I am hoping the panic dies out soon and the manufacturers can restock our stores.

I use this site: http://gun-deals.com/ammo to check for online ammo sales. It is usually up to date, but with the current panic, a store can get a shipment in at 9:00AM and be sold out by 9:10AM

If you have a photo editor on your computer, shrink the picture to around 200K total, then use the photo gallery on this site to upload it to. From there you can place the picture in your post using the "Insert Image" button in the tool bar at the top of the posting window.

hehehehe got that right .. all me and my 290 lbs.. lol

I have the same gun and hate the stock. Finally replaced it this week with a Tapco T6 and Pistol grip. Waiting for the hand guard with rails to come in Sat, Much easier to handle and shoot with the new config. being a left hand shooter makes it a bit difficult with the left side front sling mount. Trying to figure a way to move it to the right side of the weapon. The T6 has right or left side mount for the rear sling mount.
