CARROLLTON – Guns, not drugs, took center stage at Tuesday evening's City Council meeting.

Without a word of discussion, council members passed a law banning the sale of popular inebriants like K2 and salvia. Such bans have been a hot issue in other cities, but Carrollton's meeting-goers saved their breath to talk gun shops.

Specifically, they talked about Big Slim's Firearms, which upset some residents when it opened last week across the street from houses and in the same mini mall as a liquor store.

This is just one well-monied do-gooder president of the HOA trying to make a name for himself. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if it passed. We're talking about Dallas County here. Not as liberal as Austin, but reasonably close. His justification for why Big Slim's posed a danger was too stupid to even attempt to dissect. Ask the cops what they think of it. Half of them are probably going in to buy guns and ammo on-duty.
