Waiting in line at the church to hand over an old .38-caliber revolver given to him by his father, Troy Graham said he turned it in, in part, because he doesn't believe the gun is registered.

OMG.

When I had my first shop in the Cincinnati area I went to a buy back with several worthless barreled receivers, turned them in, then walked out and bought firearms from people in line. Later they told me the guns needed to have a stock so I taped 2x4's to the barreled receivers, turned them in and bought even more firearms from people showing up to turn in firearms. After 3 of those the local police stopped doing buy backs... :) I'd like to think they gave up.

At that time I was buying u-fixems for $12 each by the pallet, fixing up what I could, removing whatever usable parts I could then turning in whatever was too rusted, bent or unsafe to shoot to the police for $35. The $35 went into buying more firearms, I like to think the police bought worthless hunks of metal and I got nice new SKS's out of the deal.

How much you want to bet that some of those weapons made it home to those of the officers?

For $50 bucks a gun... I wonder if you could literally stand on the corner with a sign $65 per gun for FTF deals (assuming FTF is legal in MI)...

I wonder if they could get you for Pandering on the street?

I've seen guys try that, they get "moved along" quite fast, however standing in line and making a deal with the people around you is much tougher to stop...

I don't think pandering means what you think it means...it's selling sex, or facilitating the sale of sex, like a pimp would.

More than likely the cops would run you off, ask you to leave. But I suppose if they wanted then there are probably a dozen or so charges they could try to lay against you

You know for the cost of a local news paper ad... I wonder how successful anyone might be to advertise their own "gun buy back" program to get guns off the streets... off the streets and into my safe!

I bet in Detroit private sales are illegal, and I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit has a registration system and that many of the turned in firearms are unregistered.

I seriously doubt that you could buy much at a buy back in Detroit.

What bothers me is that there a probably some nice albeit obscure guns in there. Good condition J.C. Higgins, Stevens, Savage, etc. Probably some decent Side by sides that will be melted down AT TAX PAYER EXPENSE rather than sold cheap on Gunbroker or something. Funny how these retards SPEND taxpayers money rather than make money for the city........
