I was reading that the French Cavalry used a pistol that was .69 caliber. I was thinking "Wow..that would be cool." Yet, I know jack nothing about black powder weapons. Does anyone make a decent working reproduction of this pistol.

Holy Crap! Nearly 700 bucks for a repo flintlock pistol! I have been around too long, those use to cost about $150 bucks when I was a teen.

I've got a Charleville (Sp?) in .69 cal. I loaded it with no.7 1/2 shot and used it as a backup for my BP shotgun when I rabbit hunted. It's hell with a round ball, too...

Yeah...that is another reason I was wanting one. Because you can get creative with smooth bore blackpowder loads.

They are probably much better quality. A lot of the older repro muzzle loaders are spanish/italian and the locks suck. Flintlocks are one area where you do not want to go cheap.

Built 25 muzzle loaders from scratch, 6 were flinchlocks. I'm very familiar with lock quality requirements. Used Silers, used L&R brand Flintlocks. The Durs Egg was my particular fave.
