One of my favorite vacation spots, at that. Further signs of the coming Apocalypse?

Surprised they live in the cold water. Even in the middle of summer, tahoe is cold! I wonder if they taste like carp?

Some guy just caught a 3 lber in Lake St. Clair by me. That lake freezes in the winter, so my guess is cold is not a problem for goldfish.

Yup. Even considered a delicacy in parts of Asia IIRC.

well then whats the deal. Lets just fish them to extinction if they are a problem.

Year round open license, once word gets out that they are good to eat and plentiful then the issue will be resolved.

Even charging a small fee would put money in the system to further resolve the issue.

Never expect the government to do the sensible thing. They will spend THOUSANDS of taxpayer dollars to pay rangers to remove them.

Goldfish are not a tropical fish and do not require a heated aquarium.

They're basically just a plain old carp that was domesticated by the Chinese around 1000 years ago.

And like most carp they are pretty rugged and can withstand some tough conditions. This is why they were the only oramental fish for centuries until aquarium heaters and filtrations systems made it possible to keep more exotic and beautiful tropical species in recent times.

fucking figures for the dumbasses up at tahoe. Go up in the summer buy goldfish for the kids. Come time to go home. Dump goldie in the lake kids. Wouldnt want to flush it or anything like that LOL Should be a proud peta moment. Watch they'll ban gold fish from being brought in or sold in the tahoe basin area. I think this is funnier than hell .

My kids used to pull 1 to 3 pounders out of the retention ponds around our apartment complex so you know they had to have over wintered in those ponds in order to get that big. They had lots of food and no natural enemies so no reason not to survive. At the fish ponds in the Forest Preserve they barely lasted long enough to hit the water. Between blue gills, bull heads and turtles they were dead meat when they hit those over crowded waters.
