My Ak-47 that has had no modifications. The stock is a little short for me to use comfortably with my new red dot. I wanted to replace it with the tapco ak T6. If I do that will I have to worry about 922 compliance or not?

thanks

Nope, if your rifle already has a standard pistol grip and separate stock, you are not changing the appearance so there are no legal issues to worry about.

Just to verify, what AK/AKM variant are you talking about? Technically an AK-47 is a figment of the American news media as the soviets only called the original rifle an Avtomat Kalashnikova with no date designation. And the funny thing is the rifle wasn't approved for production until 1949. It was turned down in 1947 when originally offered by Mr. K. In fact the legend of the designation is so widespread even Mr. Kalashnikov has been caught uttering it even though he knows better.
