Which barrel length would be best for a 7.62x54r Vepr? 16.5, 20.5 or 23

Which barrel would be best for a 7.62x54r Vepr? I like the idea of the 20.5 inch barrel best. If I am understanding correct, the longer barrel is more accurate. Are there any other advantages to the longer barrel? Centerfire has the Vepr 54r 16.5 on sale for $899. Is a longer barrel 54r Vepr worth the extra $300?
