FALL RIVER — Carrying a gun illegally is about to become more dangerous. Prosecutors will, once more, be able to ask that anyone arrested for carrying a gun without a license be held without bail while awaiting trial.

“This takes effect on Nov. 4,” District Attorney Sam Sutter said. “I personally can’t wait.

“Myself and my prosecutors will be marching into court to ask judges to hold dangerous individuals in jail for 90 days awaiting trial.”

Sutter was referring to the bill passed in the final hours of the last legislative session that states anyone arrested and charged with possession of an illegal firearm can be ordered into a dangerousness hearing.
