I have a milled Arsenal ak47 Mod 101S.Would like to know the best route to go for scoping it.I want to use the side mounts ,with possibly some quick change levers so I can take it off and then replace it without re-zeroing.Any suggestions as what mount and scope.

You have a side rail already?

How about a red dot sight?

Get a Cobra Red Dot. They are made for the AK. Thats what I plan aon getting for my SLR-101S.

Have you done a comparison Ref the Cobra red Dot and the Vortex?

I have a Vortex Strikefire(?) mounted on my SLR-106 CR by means of an Ultimak. It doesn't get especially hot and the forward mounting setup is amazingly handy for rapid target acquisition and fast aimed shooting. If you're looking to mount a real variable scope, Midwest Industries has a VERY nice side rail mount that sits low over the top cover and provides enough rail positions to get your scope where you want it for proper eye relief. I typically run this setup on my .308 Vepr, but from time to time I mount it to the aforementioned SLR with the red dot and forward-mounted Ultimak (just for the magnification, since it's dialed in for the .308) to get a 2-7x "magnified red dot" effect.
