Have you started with the Wikipedia entry?

Wikipedia is actually pretty good when it comes to non-political topics. Not too many people bother with vandalizing historical pages, but even when they do someone else usually reverts it back to pristine state in short order.

Even if you don't trust the article, try following some of the links...

If you want to read a good history book, try "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond. He has a very interesting theory as to how white man came out on top. (Hint: it mostly has to do with geography.)

There are alot of decent books about it, however most will focus on an aspect or two, Agincourt, or Joan of Arc for instance.

I think you'd be best off with just a simple websearch, start with timelines, overviews, and see if there is something you have a special interest in.
