Assisting a friend with some research on his MAK 90 and a few accessories....

2-30 round magazines with markings stamped into the raised, spot welded spine as follows:

Mag 1- X E O I F S C B Q

Mag 2- J H F H C A

Both mags have a witness hole at the 30? round mark, not "bolt hold open" types, no other discernable markings.

Any idea what country? age? etc.?

Thanks!

Steve

i'm thinking bulgy. and the stamped letters are some sort of import marks.

Those are interesting marks, and since both mags have the spine, that rules out Chinese, and other markings rule out Yugoslavian. Also can rule out Russia by the feed lips.

Going to agree with silentkilla that they are most likely Bulgarian.

They could be import marks, or a previous owner wanted to personalize them and only they know what the markings truly mean.

Thanks for the replies on these. As far as the markings go, the impressions are completely blued so I expect that they were applied before bluing. Since the blue does not appear to be touched up I suspect the markings are factory rather than end user applied.

gotta remember though, someone might have stamped them like aknut said, seen what happened to the finnish and stripped them down a redone them

I imagine that is definitely possible. Looks like these are gonna remain bit of a mystery I suppose! I'm certainly learning that with AKs, virtually nothing is truly etched in stone!

Thanks Again Guys!
