Howdy, campers. :) As I promised the other day here is my review of the top shelf Behike 54, with some bonus rye whiskey coverage, Knob Creek's rye whiskey.

This is a good size stick at a 54 ring and around 6" in length.

The Behike line, as some of you know, is Cohiba's flagship offering. It's quite a feat when you already roll what are arguably the best cigars in the world and you decide to offer something even better.

You know, its quite a statement when your product is so highly regarded that even the band you put on your cigars has two holograms in an attempt to thwart the counterfeiters. Geeze. :nono:

Okay, lets burn this damed thing! ;) At the light you get a bit of white pepper and cedar. That fades pretty quick and the chocolate-coffee notes Cohiba is famous for take over. From here the flavor is pretty consistent, consistently great! You go from mocha coffee to hints of nutmeg and sweet, white pepper, back to chocolate and sweet tobacco. The draw on these is perfect as is every aspect of their construction. These are expensive but Cohiba makes every effort to make them worth the price. :encore:

Now, on to the afore mentioned rye whiskey! This, as I mentioned, is Knob Creek's foray into the rye marketplace.

Hmmmm.......... I hate to do this, especially on a first impression, but, I gotta say; this is some pretty disappointing hooch.
It's kinda harsh, yet bland at the same time. This second glass is better, but the first one pretty much sucked. :sadwave:

I paid $35 for this stuff and to be honest, I can't recommend it, every other rye I've tried was better. Bummer.

So, screw it, back to the stogie. These are easily nubbable. I recommend them, maybe not as an everyday stick, but much like the Esplindido as a special occasion smoke. :)

I want to be YOU when I grow up.....
What was the proof on the Knobby? Can't make it out from the pic.

No surprises on the cigar. The rye is a disappointment. I think the best I ever had was Pappy Van Winkle. I cannot remember all the particulars (age, proof) but damn was it a whole bunch of fine. As far as the Knob Creek, its a Jim Beam juice as I recall. I'd have guessed middle of the road. Unremarkable but inoffensive.

Me too. ;)

Lets see, the Knob Creek weighs in at 100 proof.

I didn't even recognize this as being rye upon first sip, if anything it reminded me of cheap canadian booze.

Oh my, someday, if I can locate a bottle, I'd like to try the Pappy rye. Everything I've read has been good. :)
