So did Blokamp's first politically tinged sci-fi feature, the overrated but promising "District 9." Yeah, I saw the trailer for it in a theater and at first I'm thinking nice action, then they do statements that bash wealth and achievement numerous times and it dawns on me this is an anti wealthy, pro "The People" a.k.a. Socialist theme propaganda film. No thanks, not going to watch it ... ever.

Its weird, Damon at times comes across like a nice and thoughtful guy, and Im actually pretty sure he is. But jeeze, dude, get over the patented "Hollywood Liberal Hype", and figure some shit out.

It's "acting". Of course he's not a menial labor cyborg hobo jesus in real life. Just like Lil Wayne isn't a drug kingpin and Hillary Clinton is not a human female.

It's a dystopian future story, I.E. have vs. have nots with some cool technological spectacle and maybe a bit of messianic style ass kicking. (You, Mr. Protagonist are "the one"... blah blah...)

District 9 kicked ass. Elysium looks badass too. The reason it's being panned in the press is because the "bad guy" in the film is a deeply stratified society and the people who own the media (G.E., Time Warner, Disney et-all) are heavily invested in deeply stratifying society on a global scale.

Make no mistake thinking you of the "middle class", the "producing class", are the haves in this film either. In this fictional future there is no middle class. Y'all are the "have nots" in that society. Y'all ain't Jodie Foster. Y'all are Matt Damon.

I don't know. I'm pretty fed up with the liberal BS plugs in so many movies now days, the list of movies or TV shows I actually want to see is getting shorter day by day. If they want to tell a fictional story that's great but when they throw several obvious political agenda plugs in the movie then no thanks.

They could have just as easily made it about a communist controlled government elitist group that held down the citizens and took all the wealth for themselves, much like what has been done numerous times in real life instead of taking a mostly fictional ideology and trying to correlate that with reality.

L.A. County is Elysium. Has been for decades. The whole state of California is stratified between people who basically own and privitize virtual paradises on earth and everyone else who is ground into paste just trying to stay fed.
