Hello, new to the forum. I've never owned an AK and I ended up doing the anti-smart thing by buying one on impulse without educating myself. Sooo, I have a couple questions. First, are the Vulcan receivers as bad as everyone says? Second, I've looked at tons of AK's looking for the same gas block/barrel setup mine has and I haven't found one. Can somebody please identify mine and tell me what it is, good or bad? Thanks2737

Welcome to the board CK. Nice looking AK. As I'm sure you've found out Vulcan is Hesse which used to equal junk. That being said, anyone can make a decent AK even if they can't/don't do it all the time. Bout the only thing you can do for sure is shoot it, keep and eye on it and see what happens.

Thanks Richard. Still wondering though about the barrel/gasblock set up. The barrel seems really heavy and the adjustable gas block looks different than anything I've seen so far. So if anyone has any info on it I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Can you take some clear, up close pics of the left front part of the receiver? Also, same thing with the mag well with no mag in it.

That my friend is a Yugo M95 underfolder rebuilt on a USA receiver. If they used a NoDakSpud receiver, and I don't know that BlackthornVulcan/Hesse ever made a receiver for that rifle themselves, it should be good to go.

The only draw back to that rifle is it is .223 and uses proprietary Yugo Mags that are (were) expensive and a little hard to come by. Just did some checking and seems prices came down; they are out there at $27.95. Very reasonable.

Welcome to the group !!! :welcome:

I too don't remember Vulcan/Hesse ever making a Yugo receiver so there is a possibility you have a reliable, very nice rifle.

I have never seen an adjustable gas block for an AK. Granted AKs shouldn't really need them, but they are a nice idea.

Don't feel bad, many members never figure it out no matter how many times I tell them. Nice to see you can, and that rifle looks better than anything I have seen from Vulcan.

Yep Zastava M95. I built this one on a Nodak receiver. Built like a tank. Are the lamps still good?http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb376/asmcjoe/zastava002.jpg (http://s1202.photobucket.com/user/asmcjoe/media/zastava002.jpg.html)

Yeah... What he said! M95 I think on a NDS, and that safety stop looks a little short. (?)
