For anyone who is thinking on a nice new set of wood furniture for their WASR, don't even think about this one. Yeah, it's shiny, looks good, yadda yadda... It's not going to fit correctly. The pistol grip fit perfectly. The butt stock was just a little too wide to fit, but a little help from the Dremel got that squared away. Same with the upper hand guard. The lower hand guard... I've been at it for two hours and it's still not fitting correctly. It's still too long and keeps going into the receiver lopsided. I recommend refinishing the wood you have on your AK, this... is a waste of time. The lower hand guard from this set feels as if it could be really nice. It's a little wider than the standard Romanian lower hand guard. But since it will not fit properly, and the lever that holds it in place will not close it's a waste. If I hadn't broke my butt stock while removing it to refinish it this would not have been an issue. Guess I'll hang on to my old lower hand guard and refinish it to match instead of dremeling the shit out of it for fucking ever.http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/ak-47-laminated-wood-stock.aspx?a=860920

It is a nice looking set of wood. I wonder where it is from, US or foreign made?

Yea, "G" kits and AMD65 kits from Bocefus or Tapco for $69.95

SG also has the Timbersmith stocks from Tapco. They are not Ironwood, but I've seen good reviews...

Those look like the same Taiwanese stock sets I got my handguards for my Draco from.

Took me five minutes of trial and error with a dremel to make it work and now it fits great and looks good.

Surprising that they don't warn about 922(r) stupidity. If they are foreign parts then installing the pistol grip in place of the Century US grip would be in violation of the new ATF second amendment.

In the photo they do look like a nice replica of Russian wood.

A photo of them in real life would be nice A. P.

I'm pretty sure these handguards (not pistol grip) came from the same stock set.

Neither the site or the stock/guards/ or grip say where they were made. Nor did anything on the packaging. The hand guards look almost identical to Funky's, but my pistol grip is smooth not checkered. So I did install the pistol grip. I may or may not be in violation. I suspect that I am, but if for some reason I had ATF knocking at my door, they would have no way to tell weather I was or wasn't in violation of 922(r). There's no foreign or domestic stamping on any of it. But just to be safe I still have the shitty Tapco grip. I will post a photo soon. It looks like I might have to widen the notch in the barrel in order to get the lever on my locking nut to engage and lock. I really don't want to remove any more material from the guard itself.

This site has size limitations on photos, as in very small. If you can't get them small enough, try one of the many other free sites on the net, then just copy and paste the photo URL to the Insert Image pop-up using the button in the reply window.

You have to be 18 to buy that?

Yep. Stupid innit!? it's not even a functioning part of a rifle and could be used for many things, from a cosmetic kit for a more realistic looking airsoft AK (stupid IMO, but I've heard worse), to make up a realistic looking and feeling dummy rifle as a prop or some shit (see previous parentheses). Or as in my case, simply to replace broken furniture on existing rifle. But we are not talking about buying a working rifle or even parts that once assembled on an 80% receiver could make a functioning firearm.

AKnut, thanks for the heads up. Been too long since I've been on any forums, forgot what Photobucket was!

You will notice I shaved away a chunk of the inside. It was too narrow to fit around the barrel. Also the rectangle chunk at the back side that fits into receiver was too large to fit. Now it's still too long, and my only otion is to shave away bit by bit around the top outside rim. About 1/16 of an inch or so.

Looks really nice! Don't feel bad about having to modify the inside of the handguard. I have had to do that to many lower handguards when taking off one AK variant and putting onto another. Not all front trunions were created equal. I have even had to demel off some wood on a piece taken off a rifle that when I went to reinstall it, it evidently had expanded due to temperature and/or humidity.

As good as that wood looks, it will be worth the work!

It would have been. But while I was shaving away my 2 year old daughter snuck up on me and hugged my leg by surprise... Needless to say I fucked it up.:11doh: Looks like I'm just going to have to try and refinish the old one to match. Which sucks because this thing had a much wider and better feeling grip to it!
