Looks like an ordinary 1945 vintage Izhevsk arsenal built M44, but it isn't. These were rebuilt in Yugoslavia.
No importer added serial number, just a tiny little PWA mark on the underside of the barrel near muzzle.
Here she is:

Signs of Yugo rework: 1TRZ stamp and oil finish on wood, rear sight blade in the white.

Now I'm the happy owner, fantastic shooter, takes down bowling pins at 220 yards with about a 80% hit rate. Fantastic rifle.

:welcome: to Gunsnet.
The M-44s do shoot good. Mine shot better with the bayo extended, which is the way they were intended to be shot to achieve accuracy.

Thanks!

This one at 200 yards shoots 12" left with the bayo folded, and 3" right with it extended. I'm really a Mauser guy, but I grabbed a nice MO marked 91/30 and figured I needed an m44 or m38 to go with it. really didnt want a russian refurb, was lookking at polish then saw this yugo rework and at a price I couldnt say no to and grabbed it.

That's a very nice M44 and with an unusual pedigree. Congrats!

She is a beauty. I have two M38s with laminated stocks but still hope to score a nice M44 one of these days.
