I picked up a used WASR-10 the other day. It has a folding TAPCO stock. Have some original furniture coming to replace it. Also I plan on installing the TAPCO G2 fcg.

It came with 11 magazines and in the bag was this part.

Any ideas? Appears hardened and blued. Has a roll pin.

If you need more measurements, ask.

Thanks

Scott

it's a pin on muzzle brake from the dark days of the assault weapons ban when you couldn't have a threaded muzzle.

Welcome to the group !!! :welcome:

Hope you don't mind that I installed you pictures. There are many lazy people (like me) who don't like to click on links so I put the pictures up for easy viewing.

The part in question is a pin on AK-74 style muzzle brake. On a rifle that is not threaded, and if the inner diameter of the brake slides tightly over the muzzle, the pin that is included replaces the front pin of the front sight base to hold the brake in place. There is a good chance your WASR has a threaded muzzle, so having that brake is not needed but could make nice trading material.

By the way, the top mag in the middle stack is a Yugo mag and probably will have a bolt hold open follower. Unfortunately when you remove the mag, the bolt will slam home.

This gun has a threaded muzzle.

I guess this extra muzzle brake was thrown in the group or put in by accident. Either way, I'll bag it and set it aside.

Thank you for your help.

BTW, how do I get the pics to show large style instead of the links?

To load pictures, after uploading them to any photo host, right click on your photo, then save the photo's URL. then go to the text edit box, or text entry box and click on the http://www.gunsnet.net/photopost/data/500/icon.JPG icon in the box above the text window. When it opens, click on the "from url" tab, uncheck the box and paste the url in the window that comes up. Your photo will be automatically installed in your post.

Missed the 'uncheck the box' part.
