‘Don’t Drink And Carry A Gun,’ Vallone’s Proposed Law Says

Applying the “when you drink, don’t drive” dictum to gun possession, a bill that seeks to prohibit people from carrying guns while under the influence of drugs or alcohol has been introduced by City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The bill aims at decreasing the possibility of gun violence by prohibiting carrying a gun while intoxicated or while a person’s ability to safely possess such a dangerous instrument is impaired, Vallone’s announcement about the bill being filed declared.

I'm still trying to figure out how a city is able to make laws over the state....
