I have always liked the P38. J&G has WWII Nazi P38s with German markings for $580. The picture looks pretty good. What do you guys think, is it a decent deal?

Just found this site.

Seems that the pistols are reasonably priced for the quality.

Here it is at wideners for $5 less. http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=100000958&dir=700|1012|1027

For some reason I trust Wideners a little more, although I've only ever ordered ammo through them.

I can't get the website to open. Says the address doesn't exist. I tried Googling Wideners and the search came back with the home page but it wouldn't open either. Strange. I wonder if their site is down?

As for J&G, I bought a CZ-82 through them a couple of years ago and had a great experience. They were very helpful finding and working with a FFL in my area to ship the pistol to. I am willing to go to Wideners, though. Just have to get the website to open to see what they are offering.

Just started my search for a FFL. Hopefully I will be able to order the pistol tonight. I am sort of excited.

The link is working for me, so the problem might be with your local ISP or something.

If you like JG then use them. Its always good to have options though.

I would be excited too.

I don't have any non-Soviet WW2 weapons and would be stoked to get a Nazi P-38. Personally I like the brown bakelite grips better than the black.

Just tried it again and it is working now. They both look good. I can choose manufacture with J&G but the description sounds better with Widener's. Decisions, decisions!

The pistol is a nice piece of history. But I never really found it neat or cool enough to buy one.

The pistol is a nice piece of history. But I never really found it neat or cool enough to buy one.

I almost bought a P1 a few years ago for close to the same price. It was one of a lot manufactured in the 1950s and then put into a warehouse and forgotten about. A 1950s gun that had never been sold or fired except for any test firing they did at the factory. As I looked at it the price was a bit high and I didn't really have the money. This pistol, though, was priced right in the middle of the range and was military issue vice a civilian made weapon. I picked it up a couple of days ago and it looks great. I will try to get pictures posted of it in the next few days. Now I may need to start looking for Nambu to complete the set.
