I loaded 100 new Starline cases of 7.62x25 about 5 yrs ago. I loaded them using Hornady XTP 90 gr. HPs. I loaded them well below MAX.

I went to the range today and shot 50 of them through a CZ-52. After tracking the brass down 20' away, I noticed all the cases had splits either in the necks or shoulders.

I also shot some S&B factory rds. After examining them, there were NO splits.
My question is, WTF is going on with Starline brass?

Here's a pic of one w/ a flashlight behind it to show split.

Scanned 4 of the cases. Splits are clearly visible.

I called Starline this morning.
A very knowledgeable production manager talked to me about my problem.
Seems when I bought my brass 4-5 years ago, the forming of the cases was done differently. Right about the time I bought mine, they were changing the production process. It changed by relieving stresses caused by drawing the brass in the neck and shoulder areas.

After our discussion, he said he was sending 100 replacement cases of the new production.
Very good customer service, IMO. I'm a happy camper now.

Glad to hear all is well. That one had me scratching my head.

Yeah, me too.
I've heard Starline is possibly the best brass to buy. Just a mal-engineered process, I guess.

A mistake and they accepted responsibility for it..

I wish our politicians would try it.. ;)

They did, they blamed Bush.
