Are they not selling? Seems the prices are going lower now.
Or is the new SIG-516 getting all the attention now?

I was at the Cabela's in Buda last weekend,on the used for sale racks there were no less than 8 Sig 556 rifles in various configurations. There were beaters, tactical printerman specials, and plain as factory jobs. Not a single rifle was less than 1K even the fubar looking ones were over 1K.Seeing this many on the used racks makes me think that either these are not as hot as we were told or people needed some cash.

They had one Ruger556,used $1300.I saw only a few news behind the counters with price tags over $1500.

The price for the SWAT must be a mistake- it's the same as the other one for $1700 plus a railed forend.

I saw one at the range a couple days ago getting sighted in so folks are still buying...

well they are as hard on brass as a AK and are only as actuate as a basic AR with more weight ..no wonder prices are dropping I could not get rid of mine fast enough.

I am guessing that people need the money. I am seeing a lot of AR's for sale.

I think the economy and folks that have lost their jobs is a real cause for seeing all kinds of firearms for sale as used. 1 in 3 manufacturing jobs possibly have been lost in the country over the last 18 months.

I was thinking the same thing. I am seeing used "everything", left and right now, at any funstore I go to.

The one's I've been noticing that are in abundance (but overpriced) are preban Colt A1's and preban Chicom AK's.

Shoot it a bunch and find out. Or ... send it to me and I'll shake it down for you. Shouldn't take more than oh ... 5 years to test it throughly.

Ditto the economy

Plus ... a lot of people went nutz :whatever: buying firearms when Obummer got elected ... thinking they would sell them for a huge profit when they got banned. Tired of sitting on them, needing money or maybe the wife not wanting them in the house or whatever the reason now they are re-entering the market place at depressed prices ... supply and demand.

One other thing is there is a limit to the number of $1000 plus rifles a person could buy, and it seems like every time you turn around, the latest is pushing the $2000 mark.

There are not that many people that could afford that much, let alone buy more than one at those prices.

I would love a Sig 556 that looks like the original 550/551, but a .223 for $1500 plus doesn't make sense when I put it next to my $700 AR-15. Even if it is piston driven.

And taking price into account, I would love a SCAR-17S (.308) but for $3000 I could buy one very accurate, though not as "close quarterable" Remington 700 or Savage and a case of ammo and still have money left over for a really nice scope to make it one heck of a sniper rifle.

Still I would really like a Sig 556 Classic!!!!!!!

I agree with the 1K rifle statement.

Even when I have money to blow, I'm not blowing it on another 5.56. I'm just not. In my eyes, it better be something really special.

I'm not an expert, but I just don't see paying the old prices for a Sig 556 when I could own a well made AR with a ton of mags and 2K rounds of brass for those old prices.

Same with the SCAR, ACR, FS2000, etc... I just don't see those moving.

Meanwhile, people are still in the market for 800 dollar bushmasters and Arsenal AK's.

Henderson defense also had a good price on Sig's for military/LEO/first responders.

Ditto.

If I do buy another long arm, it will be a pistol caliber carbine that's cheaper to shoot.
And it will be under the $1k mark, or it's not coming home with me.

I saw the SIG 556 SWAT at the range again last week- the shooter had a mechanical rest, big optic and federal match ammo and was shooting a solid 1-1.5 MOA group at 200 yards.

Pretty damn good for an AK :coffee:.

Joined the South river gun club here in Conyers and was able to run 120 rounds through it and loved every minute of it! The thing is dead on even with the diopter and red dot sight it came with.Orderd a eotech XPS and will be here on tuesday so since I am off on veterans day I will take it back to the range to zero and get some more ammo through it. So far all is good!
