Can anyone help me identify which model it is? I have had it for a number of years and never fired it. I have never fired it. Still has globs of cosmo in places. The bolt lugs still have not had the black worn off the contact points yet, it has seen that little amount of usage. I have ordered a clip for it from ebay and intend to test fire it after having my local smith confirm headspace. My white kitty decided to swipe by when I was trying to pose the rifle for pics. White Cat + cosmo = transfer of hair from kitty and cosmo from rifle.

Very nice! I'd say it's a 1891/41 Carcano 6.5x52mm.

It sure looks like a Model 1891 'rifle' with a bent bolt handle but I could be wrong. Look at the links below for reference.

I looked the bolt over well and cannot find a serial number or part of a serial number. Is it possible i have the wrong bolt? Are they safely interchangeable? The way it is bent down looks like the carbine one. It has the same curve. Might be a similar instance as the russian capture 98k with the straight gew bolt that are appearing on the market here.

Rear sight looks too small for an m-91

I did. Best i can come up with is that the bolt was bent by the importer to make it look more like a Mauser or on the best scenario it is a bicyclist rifle. I am going to leave it as is if it works. Nobody at my club will notice anything wrong. Eventually if i can come across a bolt body that has a straight handle i will swap it out but keep the bent one just in case.

Have you determined the caliber it's chambered in?

It is a 6.5 bore. As for the chamber i have not checked. But i would assume 6.5x52 Carcano. I have looked harder and determined it is an 1891/41 that has had the handle improperly bent. Now i am considering getting my smith to straiten it. I wonder just how noticeable it would be after.

Here is a better view of the bolt handle. I am not sure that it looks like it was bent after the fact. It is probably just the wrong bolt. Luckily the receivers were all the same so the bolt will likely work.

Nother thing i just noticed is the Tiro a Segno Nazionale marking. Which according to the interwebs means its a good shooting one. This is going to be my summer project.

Safe digging is sure fun. Its like christmas when you find something that you originally thought was junk and realize it is not.
