The Hogue is a grip I would consider over the plain hard plastic grips that most AK variants come with . I opted for the Saw 249 style , but only for it's looks . The Hogue is comfortable and looks okay .... Ergo makes a grip that's pretty good to but a little funnier looking . I originally ordered a green Saw grip , but received a black one instead . I came that close to not being able to call my Romy "Tac and Black"

Just got two in the mail today from Brownells, I plan on trying one out this weekend on my Maadi. It fells alot better than the hard plastic grip that came with it.

I'm partial to Hogue finger grooves on most of my semi-auto pistols, and the ones I got for my AK's make a world of difference in how they handle. Got one on the AR for the same reason.

wood sniffer! :lool:

seriously though, i have all manner of grips from various countries and swap them around as i see fit. however, my underfolder seems to like the Hogue the best....especially when folded. the sureness of the handhold aids in control of the weapon

That's pretty nice looking. I tried the Mako grip by the way – I'd say I have average hands but that thing felt too big. I sent it back.

Try going all-Hogue: pistol grip and front handguards. I did this on a Romy, added a FABarms buttstock-OMG! (as my kids would say) Guns feels a 10000x more responsive and better balanced.

I placed some hogue grips on my bulgy and man! What a difference, i love em. Unfortunately i think it detracts from the overall appearance of the rifle however, i prefer functionality over looks so, it's not an issue

One good thing about the Hogue grips is that there is a company that makes a maintance/cleaning kit that fits inside the grip. It has a pull string, punch screw driver, shell extractor, etc. in a unit that slides inside the grip. I don't remember the name (they were in the Shotgun news), but they also make one for the AR15/16s. It's expensive, but good.

My Hogue grip should be arriving in the mail today. I have large hands and the stock AK grip just wasn't cutting it.

Well, my grip came today however there seems to be an issue. I cannot tighten the screw enough to secure the grip. Not sure if the screw is too long or what. I will try and add a few washers between the screw head and grip and hope I can tighten up the grip.

I just ordered one from Midway for $18.99. Its going on a MAK90.

I took a closer look and its not the screw that is causing the problem, its the little block that the grip screw, screws into.

What is happening is that the part of the block that sticks out is a bit too long for the Hogue grip. Its keeping the grip from being able to be snugged up tight to the frame. I don't think I can do anything to the grip so I either need to trim the block with a dremel or add some type of spacer.

Welcome to the forum SinPA. Easy to remove hard to replace. How much difference in space are we talking? Could there be a prob with the grip? Seems Houge would know the specs!

I pulled the block, added a shim, re-inserted the block and installed the Hogue grip. Snugged up nice and tight.
