I have been searching high and low for m38 parts to restore a bubba's carbine. Still missing quite a few bits but i have found a cleaning rod. Unfortunately it is from an m96. I was hoping someone could measure their m38 cleaning rod exactly from tip to tip so i can cut mine off and re thread it.

Thanks

here are some pics to keep it interesting

As you can see in the first pic, the front sight blade is missing, the sling swivel and the cleaning rod.

The next pic, the buttplate has been removed and replaced with a top of the line dry rubber one that was expertly crafted to fit with an angle grinder. The stock disk has been simply removed and thrown out I assume because they are bad luck when tryin to get yer buck. As well the original sling swivel has been removed here as well and one of the screws that holds it on has been replaced with a commercial sling swivel. Genius was at work here.

Next pic you can see the top of the receiver has been ground off and tapped for a scope mount by an expert craftsman.

Had to take the rear sight and spring off instead of just putting higher scope rings on it. You know because the uglier the rifle the better it works...

frig I could feel myself getting angry posting those pictures.

But It was a free rifle and the bore is perfect so whose complaining.

Sorry no Swedish mausers left in my collection to measure. Good luck with it but in as much as it has been ground and drilled and tapped it is seriously messed up and not really worth spending money onit.

I know it will always be worthless but i had a mind to put it back to looking original and then put a scope on it an use it as a trunk gun... I have an abundance of 6.5 ammo as my dad shoots that calibre in his target rifle.

forget all that stuff, imo you are throwing away money. just make a shooter out of it. jmo

Your right.

I plan on using it as a beater anyway.

I know this is a little over four years behind but for future reference, here is the length of a Swedish M38 cleaning rod!
