The United Nations's top human rights official has suggested that the United States should abandon its efforts to prosecute Edward Snowden, saying his revelations of massive state surveillance had been in the public interest.

The UN high commissioner for human rights, Navi Pillay, credited Snowden, a former US National Security Agency contractor, with starting a global debate that has led to calls for the curtailing of state powers to snoop on citizens online and store their data.

"Those who disclose human rights violations should be protected: we need them," Pillay told a news conference.

"I see some of it here in the case of Snowden, because his revelations go to the core of what we are saying about the need for transparency, the need for consultation," she said. "We owe a great deal to him for revealing this kind of information."

Drop the charges, A.G. Holder! This man is a hero whistleblower, not a traitor.

None of us would have even known about the sheer scale of NSA snooping on Americans had this man not blown the lid right off of it.

He shouldn't have to live his life out in exile. Drop the charges, and let this man come come.

Never happen lefty...

Your socialist heroes hate it when their fascist plans are revealed to those they plan against, and so examples must be made.

It would be funny as hell if Snowden had some info on Holder that he could threaten to expose. ;)

You know the NSA must spy on senior government figures as well. How else can they get so many congresscritters to go to bat for them time and time again, fighting transparency to the hilt despite the vast majority of their constituency telling them to do otherwise?

And aren't you happy you've worked so long and hard to bring this socialist utopia to all of us?

I sure as fuck never voted for him or his boss.

It would have been interesting to see who Gary Johnson would have appointed for A.G., that's for sure.

Maybe in an alternative universe or something... *sigh*

Not talking about 0bama specifically...

Talking about your life long joy in espousing/supporting the leftist fascism that has resulted in our current regime.

Holder is already responsible for the deaths of several American citizens via "Fast and Furious". If he's not in prison by now, no "information" is going to matter.

Holder ran Waco and a few other KNOWN ops and there are probably 100's more dirty laundry tasks that he has ran in this nation that will never be brought to the limelight.
Bottom line is, we have an out of control government from both side of the aisle who will stop at nothing to broker the deals that WILL ultimately destroy this nation as we know it.

Now that would be excellent! I can't remember, did fast and furious happen before Snowden took off?

He had his hands bloodied at Ruby Ridge and Waco.
