This is a Gil Hibben IV Machete I got off of Amazon.com for $73 bucks... Man is this thing robust! This is a really thick piece of steel that will not flex or bend.
I have no plans to hack my way through a jungle... I really wanted something a little nicer than the small S&W utility axe for chopping twigs/small branches for fire at the camp site.

Even came with a leather sheath.
Can anybody tell me the proper way to sharpen a knife? I think I've been doing it wrong all these years... I thought with the edge facing away from you, you pushed the blade edge forward away from you for one side... flip it over, then drag the edge now facing you towards you for the other side. Somebody told me its the opposite, with the edge facing away from you you pull it towards you for one side. Flip it over with the edge towards you then push it away from you on the stone.
