That looks a lot like that sweedish rifle you posted pictures of that I didn't know what it was.

I suspect we are not that far apart, Nationalist, as I am just outside Altavista. Where are you at?. I have one left that I want to part with. Interested? Shoot me a PM.

I just bought a Hakim on gunbroker - just now and was coming here to post a pic. It's not as nice as yours but it looks pretty good. The wood shows a lot of handling.

I didn't realize that they were so reasonably priced. I seem to remember them going for much more than around $400... and this is a 8mm too - so I can use inexpensive Romanian ammo in it - which is a big reason that I decided to buy.

Kind of like a robust, much more reliable SVT 40. Has the same basic bolt design as the SKS so how could it not be robust and reliable?

Loads with stripper clips too - another plus IMHO as you don't need to buy multiple mags for it.

Here's the reason for the noise I guess...

One more of the receiver area. The safety in the back...

So MJ - tell me more about yours... how does it shoot - what kind of accuracy do you get with what ammo... etc.

OK, I've done a bit of research on these. Basically, they are designed for a certain type of 8mm ammo = or loading. I gather light ball. They have an adjustable gas system too. The action is quite wierd as well = the operation of it.

Any advice for a new Hakim owner? Ammo, cleaning, etc.? I found a parts diagram and a home-spun manual... of sorts. Other resources? TIA

I haven't fired it and it's so clean inside I'm not getting it dirty and I don't plan on getting my fingers near that open bolt anytime soon. I have had it for at least three years maybe more. They do sell for more than $400 and $600 + is more common around here but then the market is down just now. In the New Year it will be one of the rifles on my to sell list. Add on the cost of the bayonet the gas tool and some ammo plus condition and I'll get a good price.

Happy New Year

That's a Cali legal semi - should do well there. Or has the advent of the bullet button for AR's taken the air out of this somewhat?

Shame there aren't to many around the Marietta GA area...I hear the bores on these are hit or miss but overall it is decent .Not a bad 8 Mauser semi but for what I see them going for I think I would be better off with a secondhand Zastava 8 copy..

I tried mine with some hot surplus and it pulled the extractor through the case base. Bone up on the adjustable gas system before you shoot it and likely stick to Prvi or some other commercial. Start with the gas system set for the highest chamber pressures and if it does not cycle drop back a notch until it does. Stay away from hot stuff like Turk ammo.

I have one and haven't shot it in years. I also have the FN M49 that was Egypt's issue rifle before the Hakem.
