Very nice! Wonder what firearm that Black Hills load was intended for? I've read that the SpecOps community uses foreign weapons on occasion but using custom, American made ammo would kind of throw up a flag it they were trying to run covert missions.

Remember the unmarked 9mm in the Karl Gustavs in Vietnam? Hmmm, buncha white guys raid your water buffalo depot/weapon stash in BFV circa. '68-'72 and a little thing like unmarked cases is really going to make you wonder who shot Latifah Koo the wonder buff and blew up your punji stick collection?

I had no idea that 54R was done in so many different types/variants of loads !

They made RAUFUS rounds, but no APIT rounds ?

That type of incident is why I mentioned Spec Op use but is the Black Hills ammo "unmarked"? In this day and age no milsurp 7.62x54r is going to come back to any particular country or participant, (it's too widely available) so why bother? I was thinking that perhaps we were arming Iraqi personnel with some Dragonov or Draganov varient and wanted higher quality ammo than the 7N1 or 7N14 Soviet rounds for that model weapon however, both of those loads use a 151-152gr bullet not the 174gr that the Black Hills load uses. Since the Soviet loads were designed with the Dragunov as the intended platform what are we using the BH load in?

Yeah, I'm Slowing down real hard, it's tough finding some of these. The RAUFUS are reloads, I should group them with the US rounds. The soviets were the only ones who made a APIT round, and they stopped production after WWII (they were made for the ShKas Machine gun).

The headstamp shows 7.62x54r and opposite is a half circle with a "2" under it. From what I was told when I got three boxes was it was designed for the PSL for Iraq. Can I substansiate that? No. The box was white, but I don't recall any markings. I wish I bought more.
