Any one ever hear about or maybe use one of these sites? This guy is wanting to sell it for $350. Its a gift from an ex-girlfriend that he doesn't want or need. I have done a little looking into them and all I can find is that they are Bass Pro shop's signature brand, they are made in China, and that people don't know much about them. I have been looking for a decent but inexpensive spotting scope for some time. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/spotting-scopes-amp-accessories/gold-ring-spotting-scopes-prod67250.aspx Don't know shit about them, never heard of them until your post. If you are willing to drop $350 on a spotting scope, why not try a Leupold for the same money. Name brand US built vs. some Chinese POS. http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/spotting-scopes-amp-accessories/index.htm Here is a link to Brownell's they have many different brands of Spotting scope they sell. Stay away from Simmons and other cheap ones. In my experience they will be OK for 25 yards at low power. Go further out with them or increase the power and stuff gets blurry and dark fast. You will get what you pay for.

My own Spotting Scope is a Bushnell Sentry II fixed power. I have 2 eyepieces for it, a 20x and a 48x. Even the 48x is bright and sharp. Which is my next point, zoom scopes are not usually as clear when compared to non-variables. (Fixed Power)

Thanks for the help. I will check out the Leupolds. I don't have much experience with spotting scopes. I didn't get to use them much when I was on the shooting team at Ft. Leonard Wood. Our OIC and NCOIC would watch the paper and then tell us what changes to make. I have been looking into doing some longer range shooting and want something that will help me not walk up and down the firing line all the time. Maybe I will check out your Bushnell. Thanks again.

I have a Simmons that I bought for about a hundred bucks and its a huge piece of crap that you can't see anything with. Its pretty much worthless.

Listen to Scheutz, you get what you pay for.
