Commander in Chief. Is it no wonder that no other country wants association?

Ignorant behavior by the CinC is still ignorant behavior!

There will always be work for this POS at proctologist classes everywhere, because there is always the need for a perfect asshole!

I found it disrespectful but at the same time I can see how a person, especially the POTUS can get a bit preoccupied, especially doing what for him is a frequent event and mess up like this. I can remember more than one occasion while in uniform where I was walking along, deep in thought only to see khaki's approaching. More than once I popped a salute only to realize it was a senior NCO and not an officer. In this instance I can see someone forgetting to salute until the last minute and then not realizing they have a coffee cup in their hand. Not excusing it, just saying I can see how it might have been more a slip than an intentional snub.

It would have been funnier if he poured it on himself.

Could be worse. LBJ was notorious for watering the flowers without thinking of it. According to the secret service, he would whip out "old chucky" just about anywhere outside of the white house proper. His favorite target being the rose garden. More than once, the secret service had to jump into action to block the view of LBJ pissing a golden stream from white house visitors and the press.

How disrespectful -- who do these presidents think they are?!

Seriously though, didn't the whole saluting business start with Reagan? I don't recall any footage of Eisenhower ever saluting, and he was ex-military.

I would like to know... the President is the military "Commander in Chief". So does that make him a genuine military officer?

Since Zero never served in any branch of the US military, I don't see how he rates being saluted at all, and I don't see where he even has the right to use a military salute.

That's just it. Kind of like the wearing of a U.S. flag lapel pin. It's become so cliche, as if the president has to prove he's especially patriotic or something.

(As if any of that would convince any of his detractors...)

Get over it. He's the CIC, he isn't required to return salutes. They are required to salute him until he returns the salute, passes by, or orders them to stop saluting.

He was kind enough to acknowledge the Marines existence, historically most presidents haven't even done that.

Moreover, raising a cup to someone is a sign of respect in itself.

He could just as easily kicked off his shoes and said "shine these", or past right by them with no acknowledgement whatsoever and been in the right either way.
