I live a few miles from a coal gasification plant, and when the thing isn't drafting right, meaning spewing the toxins onto a greater area than just having the smoke fall to the ground around the smokestack and spread out in town, it's almost to where you can't go outside because you can't breathe. Not making this up. Once it was so bad I almost got the m17 mask out, it woke me up in the middle of the night unable to breath and this was indoors with windows shut. The people who live nearer the thing are bombarded with a constant noise that is heard for a mile or so day and night. In 2018 they're suposed to switch to natural gas and stop using coal, no idea what that will entail if it will make things better or worse. Anyway, that's the truth here at ground zero, but I do know it keeps the lights on and I want my lights on. Doesn't keep me from thinking about class action suits however.

ever heard a gas, natural, fired plant? I am not saying anything but the woman does not imply what she thinks.
the plants sound like a jet engine, literally. I know we have choices to make but don't lie to me.

They do sound like a jet, but not 140db of sound pressure like a jet.

so why does pressure matter if you can hear it a mile away?
nice pic 308. I do miss my old job, hell that would have been a piece
of cake to run that pipe.

They make it sound like she's the only one. They ALL lie.

How can you tell if a politician is lying? Their lips are moving.

'Nuff said.

They basically ARE a jet engine (or more correctly, a gas turbine). Just like a turboprop airplane... the burning fuel spins a turbine, the turbine spins a gearbox and the gearbox send rotary power to the load (in the case of an airplane, the load is the propeller, in the case of an electric plant, the load is a big honkin' alternator).
