That's insane!

I'd seen images of archers using the arrow on the right side of the bow and always just thought the artist was messing it up in how they depicted it. Now I know different.

When I nock an arrow it is always on the right side of the bow. Of course I am left handed so I am still backwards to what this guy is suggesting!

depends on the draw/release. with the western tradition of a finger draw, the arrow goes on the left side of the riser. as the string rolls off of the fingers, it rolls clockwise from teh top, forcing the arrow up against the riser and therefore, going straight forward. with a traditional eastern style thumb draw, the string wants to roll the opposite way, therefore, the arrow is nocked on the right side for the same reasons. *not for the reasons stated in the video*

i just watched this video sconds before coming here, amazingly enough, and in it he seems to be using a finger daw AND shooting from the right side of the riser. seems very odd to me.

I saw that and just figured that the wood was replaced with either metal or some form of plastic for strength and durability (and probably ease of manufacture).

I can imagine that bow with the cams on the top would greatly assist a thumb draw.

I've seen her video (above) before. It struck me that she seems to have a really light draw.

His seems much stronger. I think that, with the advent of firearms, lots of archery skills were probably lost so his point is correct and what he's doing is amazing.

I wouldn't say conventional archery is wrong... just that target archery is different than battle archery. Kind of like how you'd train differently with an AK-47 than you would with a Remington 700.

After watching the redheaded russian gal, the next youtube video is of these Japanese ladies shooting (albeit slow-fire and ceremonial) with the arrow rested on the outside and a second arrow in the draw hand. So perhaps these techniques weren't as lost and forgotten as the original video implies?

i noticed some of these things when i watched, like many incorrect "historical facts" ( as i pointed one out in m previous post) and how he throws like a girl, but all in all, thought this was pretty funny. idk if the split arrow trick was staged or not, as he claims, but i dont think there is anyone dumb enough to think all of that stuff was done in one take.
