I give you the

M1871/88 Dutch Beaumont-Vitali , this one was made in 1872
11x50r ( this is basically 45-70 trapdoor performance round 1300-1350max fps )

100% matching, perfect patina, one pinhead sized spot of pitting under the rear sight. Bayonet don't match but that's almost the norm.
Still has the King Wilhelm III cartouche intact on the stock. Bore is strong, a little dark.

the rear sight marks are upright on the left and marked upside down on the right side for left handed shooters.

I do plan on shooting this one with very very low pressure black powder loads.. probly in the neighborhood of 700fps.

It was dirt cheap too. Can't beat that.

Theres more, but I'll get to that later. :D

Congratulations! I've seen that model before but not often and I'm pretty sure never in that nice of condition.

cool video.

That guy is playing with disaster imo. 5744 is a bulky modern powder designed for modern rifles with smokeless powder rated steel barrels that are chambered in old Black Powder cartridges. Examples; 45-70, 50-120. Him using that 5744 in an 1870s vintage gun with metal rated for Black Powder is just asking to eat a bolt!

the recoil it shows in the vid is enough to show the rounds they're using are pretty stout .

No thanks.
i looked in one of my lyman books , they even list 5574 as a load for '73 trapdoors and it has a generally low pressure.
Still , I dont like the thought of using smokeless in guns made for black powder.

If I can find it I'll link the thread of a guy who put 3 rounds of Red Dot charged loads through his CVA muzzle loader, he thought it was OK since the powder was "BLACK" but he wanted to return the rifle due to excessive recoil and poor accuracy. :lool:
