What do you all think about this? AIM had the base rifle for $619 so I'm guessing the "conversion" is the furntiture?

How hard is the mag conversion on the m14/M1A mags?

Given the price of ammo I'm thinking a VEPR or something in 7.62x54r would make more sense as far as a scoped AK platform in something bigger than 7.62x39 but maybe not? I do like the looks of this one.

He welded the receiver up himself. They come with a slant cut and he squared it up. I don't see any close-up shots of the work though.

The slant does not have to be welded up for wood stocks to fit, BTW.

The rifles are $530: https://www.classicfirearms.com/zastava308calibersemiautorifle10rd

The wood stock set is $155: https://apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/cPath/21_71/products_id/3897

You'll need a sling adapter: https://apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/4286

They use standard AK 14-1 LH muzzle devices. The optimum scope mount is the RS Regulate model 307.

Modifying the mags doesn't look to bad to me, and I'm nothing close to a gunsmith. I can work a dremel tool with a grinding head on it though. http://www.theakforum.net/forums/30-yugoslavian/22442-converting-m-14-mags-fit-yugo-m90-308-pics-back-up.html

Also I've read that these guns are pretty accurate. And the adjustable gas port allows you to use heavy hunting loads.

If wood isn't your thing, there are affordable AR stock adapters, and regular Yugo handguards will fit these rifles, so the new Hogue grips will fit, so will the railed handguards.

I really want one (or two) of these.

They love Hirtenberger .308......the m14 weld up and modify is touch and go...same for the Galil mags....the Galil mags used for the grenade rounds with the white stripe work very well.
