Really nice start, I love the old military wood and steel rifles. Do you shoot any of them?

You need a No. 4 Mk II in there. Nice collection!

Always liked the "Smellies". One of my first centerfire rifles was a 1944 No. 4 MK I in un-issued pristine condition. All matching #s & not a single ding or blemish on the wood or steel. Bought it for around $60 & had to sell it a couple of years later. Got $80 & thought I had kicked ass (for 1976). Probably the most regretful, in hindsight, gun I ever got rid of. :(

Currently have a 1918 BSA MKIII. It's a great shooter & old warhorse. I have a soft spot for these rifles.

I also have a 1945 Fazakerley NO.5 and a BSA, also 1945. Both of mine have metal nose caps, whereas yours does not.
Have we sussed out the reasoning for this? Some have them, some don't. The Faz is stamped 2/1945, don't recall the month on the other one.
Any reason to think it had anything to do with the month? Or maybe on the assembly line, someone shouted, "Hey! I just got another bunch of metal end caps! Let's use 'em up till we run out."
