Ok I spent the last 3 days trying to get the floor finished on my M1009.

I cut out the remaining bad spots in the floor and welded in some new metal.

Once I had it welded in and used a wire wheel to remove the temporary primer over all areas that had rust at one point.

I also cleaned up some minor rust damage on the inside of the passenger side fender.

I then put down some acid that converts the rust and cleaned it off. I then put down POR-15 on all areas that had rust at one point on the floor.

Once the POR-15 was tacky I painted a Rustoleum Primer over it.

BTW I had an incident with the POR-15. When I was under the truck touching up part of the fender with POR-15 I accidentally rolled it the pan of it and didn't realize it.

When I was done I noticed my hair on my head was stuck together and my neck and right arm were black.

2 days of scrubbing with acetone and I got most of it off. Though my hair is still glued together in some places.

Well back to the truck.

I finished spraying the bare metal with Rustoleum Primer and the let it dry.

I then cleaned out the entire interior with soap and water. Though the sugar sand still seems to creep back up on me.

Last I put seam sealer down along all the weld beads. That stuff is messy!

I bought 2 gallons of herculiner.

If you do really good prep work it will come out looking nice.

Looking good, Linx. That is a lot of work, and I like how you do things the right way and go through problems with a fine-toothed comb. I have the bad habit of rushing things, and therefore, sometimes projects turn out half-assed. I wish I had your patience!

That all Ive used!
The herc gets a bad rap from truck guys, but prepping, and allowing LONG drytimes between coats and use, really makes that stuff look good.

Yesterday I rode in CJ I did last christmas for a friend, and it still looked brand new, and this guy BEATS that jeep...

I got to the point I actually like the smell of that stuff..

Yeap every post I have read online that bashed herculiner came down to people who did no prep work and just painted it on.

Ive had nothing but good luck with it, but then again, Im a painter by trade, so I KNOW how important prep, and taking ones time is the key.
I also found, that in colder temps that the wait between coats or use is even more important.

Ive rolled 3-4 and sprayed 2. I suggest rolling, the spray came out faster, but not a very even sheen.

I think I am just begining to realize how much work you have put in. It is looking better and better though and, I am sure will be worth it in the end.
