This B-17G has been used as a gas station marquee for decdes, it's story is kinda amazing, and now it will be restored to flight worthyness, one of the few left in the world. I love stuff like this.

I was wondering if the B17 you were referencing was the one I was thinking about, and it is. I used to drive past it often when I worked in Portland and I remember seeing it when I was a kid. Great to think that it is going to be flying again but I will miss the land mark.

Fascinating, also glad to hear of another old 17 getting restored.

A similar B-17 flies out of Falcon Field Airport, Mesa, AZ and it is an awesome sight.
