I had my double sleeping bag from the Army (outter green, inner black, good to something like 100 below and I was plenty warm)... slept on a military cot and was fine.

Bought my wife and kids an REI 30+ double mummy bag, coleman inflatable queen mattress, plenty of fleece and long johns and she was still cold.. kids were fine.

Taught my son to light a fire with flint and a steel knife, and to start a fire with steel wool and a D battery :) He sharpened the machete on a rock so razor sharp, even him at 6 years old I think could take a zombie's head off with the blade... that's when mommy took the machete away.

Camping... really? We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner the first night (with fresh grated parmesian cheese), biscuits and country bacon for breakfast, scrambled eggs and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, velveta shells and cheese, slider burgers with sauteed mushrooms and onions, basic hot dogs and smores... with a menu like that, is it still camping? And did I mention making coffee in the Jet Boil with seasonal "Pumpkin Spice Blend" and chocolate-toffee cream?

At least the bath house had hot water... :)

In the end, kids had fun.. think my wife was happy to get home to her hot tub, hair dryer, washer/dryer, TV, and cell phone...

Take your family camping.... cuz WHEN the SHTF, you'll learn some things :)

I dont know who was more anixious to get home.. mama, or the dog? Hahahaha...

In all honesty, mama had fun... she gets a kick out of fussing, I think?

Cute kids. Lucky for them they had a pretty mom. Nice pics Mark. It's hard to get my wife to go camping. Her folks burned her out when she was a kid.

Looks like you had a great trip.
Beautiful scenery. I love Fall because of the colors and cooler days. Summer is not my favorite time to camp, but this time of year is PERFECT.
